Woodthorne Primary School and Nursery is a community school situated on a large campus and has use of The King’s School’s extensive playing fields. It is housed in two buildings with the addition of a purpose built nursery added in the mid nineties.
The classrooms are large and airy and all have a new interactive whiteboard which is used to support the teaching and learning across the whole school. There are good facilities for creative activities, a Learning Centre provides a computer suite and library facility. Two halls provide excellent space for physical education, drama and music to take place. Meals are cooked in the school kitchen and a wide choice is provided for the children to enjoy.
At present there are approximately four hundred and thirty children on roll in the main school and a nursery which provides two sessions a day for up to fifty children. There are two reception classes, four infant classes and seven junior classes taught by well qualified teachers supported by experienced teaching assistants. Wrap-around care is provided with a Breakfast Club and After School Club every day for children from Reception age to those in Year Six and also a Holiday Club during all except Christmas school holidays.
