From all of the team at Woodthorne, have a wonderful summer and we will see you on Tuesday September 4th.
We have had an exceptionally busy start to July.
Early years sports day this morning was a really lovely event, here are Miss Swann and Mrs Elcock practising their welly wanging! The event ended with a lovely rendition of happy birthday to our headmaster Mr Hinkley who turned 40 today!
We are also over the moon to announce that we won a digi award this week. Olivia and Emily in 5H beat stiff competition to win for their amazing world war podcast. We are both thrilled and incredibly proud of them for this amazing achievement!
After losing equipment to vandals, it is really lovely that Gary from our ground’s maintenance team Fastrack (and his family), heard that we had lost a bench and donated one from their own garden for the children. Here is a pic of a blossoming (possibly one sided?) relationship in nursery which is being forged as a result!
Our new electric gate into school is expected to be operational very soon. Can we please urge you not to drive up the driveway as we need emergency access at all times.
Work has commenced on the KS2 playground markings. Thanks for your patience and understanding while this work takes place.
Year 4 children enjoyed a wonderful few days in Conway on their residential trip. They had perfect weather and saw all of the local sights including the smallest house, Llandudno and RNLI Conway. They also managed some picnics, football and some ice-cream too!
We also recently welcomed some caterpillars into reception as the children learn about “minibeasts”
We raised £416 for Sport Relief – Thank you so much for your kind donations
March 23rd, 2018
As at home time tonight, 716 miles so far have been walked/run/skipped etc by our infants this week! The kids and teachers have been truly amazing.
Appropriately also for sport relief, a special mention to Sam Thursfield who some of you may have spotted on Blue Peter this evening (if you didn’t, go and iplayer it) He was running with Wolves and Bilston Athletics Club on the programme. His mum has asked me to share the below photo from his moments of fame.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the clothes for Gambia appeal. Below is a photo of the clothing we collected. Thanks also to Hope & Compassion for working with us to make this happen.
