About our Nursery

We are a morning Nursery with space for 25 children. Children start with us the term after they turn three.

September to December born – children start in the Spring term

January to March born – children start in the Summer term

April to August – children start in the Autumn term

When your child gets a place we invite you into our Nursery for you to have a look around and for your child to be able to see where they are going to learn. We also arrange a home visit which gives us a chance to get to know you and your family more.

When your child starts at nursery, we continually work with you to make sure they are settled and happy – we find most children settle in really quickly because we have already met them a number of times including spending time with them in their home environment on our home visit. We are open from 8.30 – 11.30 and we have an open door policy should you have any questions or concerns.

When children come in to start their day, they go into their family groups to complete a variety of activities and then we complete the register and talk about the day. We all join in with disco dough and then split up into groups for phonics. After this, children choose activities centred around our topics. During this time, one adult will be completing a focus led activity in maths, literacy or art and the other teacher will be supporting the children with the choosing. Children can choose to learn inside or outside. At the end of the morning we group together in our family groups to talk about what we have learnt and then we read a story and sing Nursery rhymes before home time.

Each half term we have a different topic that our learning is centred around – so far this year we have had ‘Animals’, ‘Nursery Rhymes’ and ‘Celebrations’. We also learn about Christmas, Pancake Day, Mother’s Day, Chinese New Year, Bonfire Night to name but a few.

We invite parents and family in regularly throughout the year to workshops, classes and special events. We also have two parent consultations over the year to talk one to one about your child’s learning and give you the opportunity to have a look at your child’s work.

If you have questions please ring the school office. If you would like to apply to the Nursery please fill in an application form and hand it in to the school office.
