Woodthorne Primary and Nursery School have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA). As the parent of a child who attends Woodthorne School you are automatically a member of our PTA. How you get involved is entirely up to you!
We always need fresh faces and fresh ideas to ensure that we can support our children’s school and provided as many resources and opportunities as possible. Our meetings are friendly and informal and give you a chance to meet other parents whilst supporting your child’s education.
Why do we raise funds?
In recent years some of the money raised through these activities has funded:
- A Rain shelter on the Key Stage 2 playground
- Contributions towards the cost of school trips
- Complementary school bags for our new starters in Rainbows
- Yearbooks for our Year 6 children
What events do we hold?
In recent years the PTA has hosted:
- The Great British Bake Off
- Pamper Nights
- Summer Raffles
- Christmas Fairs
- Easter Extravaganza
As you can see the PTA works hard all year round, and needs your support to keep going! We always welcome fresh ideas and suggestions.
How can I get involved?
Follow us on theWoodthorne Primary School PTA Facebook page.
Send us an email at email@example.com so we can keep you updated on meetings dates, details of events and contact you when we need help.
Whether you just listen or pitch in we’d love to see you. We regularly meet- generally in the evening, but sometimes during the day to ensure as many parents who want are able to come along. Attending meetings can give parents a really strong connection to the school whilst giving them a great way to meet other parents
It takes a few people to plan event but a whole lot more to run one! Please give us your contact details and we will contact you now and again to see if you can help. For example you could run a stall at a fayre, or behind the scenes you could stuff raffle tickets into envelopes.
Supporting our events:
You can make a valuable contribution by simply attending events within friends and relatives and spending your pennies. The PTA send out a regular newsletter to all parents which includes details of all upcoming events.

An archive of PTA newsletters can be read and downloaded from the news page.
